How to Appear Offline in Arc Raiders on PC, Xbox, and PS5
Sometimes you just want to drop into Arc Raiders, scavenge for some scrap, test out a new build, or enjoy the atmosphere without immediately getting pulled into a squad or bombarded with party invites. We've all been there—you love your regular teammates, but tonight you just want a quiet, solo run without the pressure of jumping into discord or voice chat. If you have spent any time digging through the settings looking for a simple "Appear Offline" toggle, you already know the frustrating truth: Arc Raiders doesn't have one. Because the game relies heavily on your Embark ID account to handle cross-play matchmaking and social syncing, your online status is pushed directly to the Embark system the second you log in. The good news is that you aren't completely out of luck. While there isn't an official built-in switch, you can use system-level workarounds on PC, Xbox, and PS5 to hide from the majority of your friends list. Here is exactly how to go under the radar on every platform. Platform-Specific Workarounds
PC (Steam): Before you even launch the game, open Steam, click on the "Friends" menu at the top, and set your status to "Invisible" or "Offline". This successfully breaks the link with your Steam friends list in-game, so you won't show up as playing to anyone browsing their Steam list.
Xbox Series X|S: Press the Xbox button on your controller to pull up the guide, navigate to your profile tab on the far left, and select "Appear Offline". This completely masks your presence from other Xbox players browsing their dashboard or console friends list.
PlayStation 5: Go up to your profile picture on the top right of the PS5 home screen, select "Online Status", and switch it to "Appear Offline". Similar to Xbox, this hides you from anyone looking at their PlayStation Network friend feeds.
The Cross-Play Exception (Embark ID) Here is the major catch you need to watch out for: the console and Steam workarounds only hide you from platform-specific friends. If you have added players directly using their unique Embark ID (your cross-platform buddies), those platform settings won't stop them from seeing you. They will still see you listed as active inside the game's actual social menu. If you want absolute, 100% privacy from everyone across the board, you have to add one extra step. Once you are in the main menu, open up the in-game settings, head over to the Gameplay tab, find the Online section, and temporarily turn off cross-play. By disabling cross-play alongside your console or Steam privacy settings, you effectively close the loophole, allowing you to scavenge the wasteland in complete peace. Just remember to turn it back on when you're finally ready to squad up again!
