Arc raiders osprey build
The Osprey is one of the most polarizing and powerful weapons in ARC Raiders. As a rare, scoped bolt-action sniper rifle, it forces a fundamentally different playstyle compared to rapid-fire automatic options. Because it fires a single, heavy-damaging round before requiring a manual cycle, traditional weapon stats like vertical and horizontal recoil control are entirely useless. When you un-scope to rechamber a round, recoil resets automatically.
Instead, a successful Osprey build relies on two core pillars: Aim Down Sights (ADS) speed and bullet velocity. Maximizing these metrics transforms a sluggish, long-range rifle into an aggressive, responsive tool capable of cracking armor plates and executing quick-scopes under pressure.
The Base Weapon: By the Numbers
Understanding why specific attachments are vital requires looking at the raw foundation of the weapon. At baseline tier (Osprey I), the rifle features the following technical layout:
  • Base Damage: 45 per shot (Moderate ARC armor penetration)
  • Default Magazine Capacity: 8 rounds
  • Base Range: 80.3 meters
  • Fire Rate: 17.7
  • Weight: 7 kg
As you progress through the workshop upgrades to Osprey IV, the base damage and range remain static, but the rifle gains massive operational efficiencies. Upgrading to Osprey IV cuts your bolt-action rechamber time by a massive 60% and reduces your reload time by 37.5%. To build this baseline rifle at the den, you need to scavenge 2x Advanced Mechanical Components, 3x Medium Gun Parts, and 7x Wires—or secure the blueprint directly from a successful extract. To skip the tedious extraction grind, many community members rely on platforms like U4N, which is widely considered the best place to buy arc raiders blueprints when RNG isn’t on your side.
The Meta Long-Range / Quick-Scope Build
This configuration focuses heavily on handling speeds and projectile behavior. It allows you to lock onto distant targets or rapidly snap-to-scope when an enemy Raider catches you out in the open.
  • Muzzle: Extended Barrel * Impact: Essential for increasing bullet velocity. At distances approaching the rifle’s 80.3m baseline cap, bullet drop and travel time can cause missed shots on moving targets (like airborne ARC Turbines). The Extended Barrel flattens the projectile arc, ensuring your crosshair placement matches where the bullet lands instantly.
  • Stock: Lightweight Stock * Impact: This is the single most critical modification for the weapon. The high-tier variant grants up to a 200% ADS speed boost. Because you must un-scope after every shot to chamber the next round, a 200% acceleration on your zoom transition ensures you can re-acquire targets almost immediately.
  • Magazine: Extended Medium Mag III * Impact: Increases your baseline capacity from 8 rounds to 12 rounds. In high-stakes PvPvE engagements, those 4 extra shots represent a 50% increase in sustained pressure before undergoing a lengthy reload animation.
  • Underbarrel: Angled Grip III (Optional / Leave Empty) * Impact: While the Angled Grip III slightly assists with weapon agility, underbarrels are largely optional. If you are clean with your un-scoping rhythm, you can leave this slot empty to save on kit weight.
  • Ammunition: Medium Ammo
The Stealth Alternative: Perimeter Control
If your primary objective is tracking major mechanical variants or completing high-tier trials without alerting surrounding squads, your muzzle needs to change.
  • Muzzle Modification: Swap Extended Barrel for Silencer III * Strategic Advantage: While you sacrifice the flatter trajectory and bullet velocity of the Extended Barrel, the Silencer III strips away your audio footprint. On maps like the Dam Battlegrounds or Spaceport, firing an unsuppressed Osprey can be heard from hundreds of meters away, essentially inviting third-party rushes. The silencer dampens the distinctive crack of the bolt-action rifle, masking your position while you strip canisters off structural bosses.
Loadout Pairings and Survival Tactics
Carrying a 7 kg sniper rifle that leaves you highly vulnerable at close quarters means your secondary weapon must handle extreme velocity shifts. When a team pushes your high-ground position, trying to noscope with the Osprey is a death sentence.
The community meta heavily favors pairing the Osprey with the Bobcat submachine gun or the Stitcher assault rifle. The Bobcat acts as your close-quarters insurance policy, boasting tight hip-fire spread and an aggressive fire rate that shreds defensive armor plates in fractions of a second.
When positioning on maps like Dam Battlegrounds, maintain high-elevation structures such as the Ruby Residence or Pale Apartments. Utilize adrenaline shots to reposition between buildings, crack your target's armor with a high-velocity Osprey shot, and immediately swap to your secondary to clean up the push.
